Abstract

The purpose of this article is to contribute to the analysis of how motivations, family strategies and educational trajectories interrelate and influence school choice. This work focuses on young people of secondary level of families that can be characterized as “hardto-reach populations”. The research was conducted in the Community of Campo San José in the City of Recreo, Province of Santa Fe, during the third quarter of 2017. Interviews were conducted with a group of mothers of families whose children attend oriented secondary school No. 587 in Gobernador Candioti, Santa Fe.

This work seeks to contribute to the study of other populations in similar conditions. This article offers an introduction with a description of Campo San José as a geographical and social space, since it presents historical, geographical and rural characteristics that express the importance of the difficulties of mobilizing. From there the main antecedents in relation to the subject of the investigation are reviewed, and the theoretical framework is organized based on three main elements: motivation, educational trajectories and family strategies. Once this was done, the methodology is defined, where the universe, the population and the sample to work were established, as well as the methodological approach to be applied. Finally, the cases of the families interviewed are presented in detail, and then a joint analysis is carried out based on the three theoretical elements and a conclusion as a way of closure.
